Douglas G. Watson is the founder of Pittencrieff Glen Associates, which was established in June 1999. Prior to this, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Novartis Corporation.

Mr. Watson's career spanned 33 years with Geigy/Ciba-Geigy/Novartis. He joined Geigy (UK) Ltd in 1966, working first in Operations Research and then in Corporate Planning. Following the Ciba-Geigy merger, he spent one year in Basel, Switzerland as the UK representative to an international integration team. He returned to the UK in 1973 as accounting development and investment appraisal manager, and subsequently headquarters management accountant. In 1978, Doug returned to Basel as personal assistant to the chairman of the Executive Committee. In 1981, he joined the US Pharmaceuticals Division as Senior Vice President of Planning and Business Development, and a member of the Pharmaceuticals Management Committee. From 1986, he was president of Ciba Pharmaceuticals Division until 1996, when he was appointed President & CEO of Ciba-Geigy Corporation. During this ten-year period, Mr. Watson was an active member of the Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers Association (PhRMA) board in Washington, DC. Mr. Watson became President & CEO of Novartis Corporation in 1997 when the FTC approved the merger of Ciba-Geigy & Sandoz. Mr. Watson holds an MA degree in pure mathematics from Churchill College, Cambridge University and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants

Mr. Watson also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Engelhard Corporation, Dendreon Corporation, BioMimetic Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and BZL Biologics Inc. Prior board memberships include Summit Bank Corporation, Principia Pharmaceuticals Inc., and ValiGen N.V.

Rhonda B. Friedman, Sc.D. is a Partner of Betheda Bioscience Partners, a consulting firm that provides support for healthcare companies seeking to establish and grow their organizations. Previously, Dr. Friedman served as President and COO of Coagulation Diagnostics, Inc., a medical diagnostics company that developed novel blood assays with applications in a broad range of cardiovascular conditions. While there, Dr. Friedman successfully raised funding for the operation of the company, grew and managed key staff, and negotiated contracts for clinical trials that resulted in significantly reduced costs.

Prior to Coagulation Diagnostics, Dr. Friedman held numerous executive positions with The MEDSTAT Group in Washington, D.C. MEDSTAT designs information solutions to strengthen healthcare policy and management decision-making. During her tenure MEDSTAT, Dr. Friedman served as Director, Clinical Research and Outcomes from 1987 to 1995. She served as Acting Vice President and General Manager of MEDSTAT's Research and Policy Division from 1994 to 1995, and from 1995 to 1997 she served as Vice President, Disease Management. Dr. Friedman has a wide range of experience in global clinical trials, outcomes research, strategic business planning, business development, and financial and personnel management.

Dr. Friedman earned her BA from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 1971. She has also earned an ScM and ScD in 1974 and 1978, respectively, both from the John Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health.
