INFORMEDIX CEO INVITED AS EXPERT TO PARTICIPATE IN UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA SYMPOSIUM ON PATIENT MEDICATION SAFETY

Resulting Policy Recommendations to be Published in the American Journal of Nursing and Online Publications

July 6, 2004/Rockville, MD – InforMedix, Inc. (OTC BB: IFMX) announced today that Bruce A. Kehr, M.D., chairman and CEO of InforMedix, is an invited participant in an invitation-only symposium on "The State of the Science on Safe Medication Administration," July 16-17 in Philadelphia, PA. The symposium will include leading experts on patient medication safety who will present their expertise and help formulate policy recommendations.

The symposium is being sponsored by the American Journal of Nursing (AJN), the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing Center for Professional Development, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and the Infusion Nurses Society. Keynote speakers include a senior official from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and the editor-in-chief of the AJN. The resulting priorities and proposed strategies will be published as a continuing education supplement by the AJN, the official journal of the American Nurses Association. It will also be available online at www.AJNonline.com and on www.NursingCenter.com.

During the symposium, Dr. Kehr will provide his expertise on patient compliance technologies that improve safe medication administration in ambulatory patients. The data will include information on how the Company’s Med-eMonitor System™ improves medication compliance and protocol adherence, as one of the burgeoning ePRO (electronic patient reported outcomes) technologies. The electronic patient diary segment of the ePRO market is expected to grow to $3 billion by 2005, according to pharmaceutical industry experts. Dr. Kehr is a recognized national spokesman on medication compliance technologies, and has spoken at a number of symposia related to improving medication compliance and protocol adherence in clinical drug trials and disease management programs.

Recognizing that medication errors continue to be a significant health problem in the United States, the symposium will investigate research, practice, education, product and policy recommendations for overcoming the barriers to safe administration of medications in a variety of settings. Symposium speakers include a select group of nurse clinicians, researchers, administrators, advocacy groups, and health professional and industry stakeholders.

"There are technologies today that can greatly improve medication compliance and ensure safe administration of medication for the tens of millions of chronic care patients who take multiple medications daily. However, increased awareness and implementation of these solutions is needed to have a significant impact and improve the lives of patients challenged by these complex drug regimens,” said Dr. Kehr. “The State of the Science on Safe Medication Administration symposium is an excellent forum for identifying strategic and practical recommendations that will help create innovative policies in this field.”

Dr. Kehr, an authority in the rapidly emerging field of Electronic Patient-reported Outcomes and the inventor of the Med-eMonitor System, has been refining patient management and ePRO protocols that can accelerate the technology’s integration into clinical studies programs and other settings. Dr. Kehr most recently spoke at the Phase IV Clinical Trials Conference and the BIO/MED Conference and Expo, following two published articles in peer-reviewed journals describing Med-eMonitor’s success in improving medication compliance and protocol adherence in patients with congestive heart failure (CHF) and schizophrenia.

The State of the Science on Safe Medication Administration symposium takes place July 16-17, 2004, at the Inn at Penn in Philadelphia, PA.
