Campus-community partnerships, central to UMKC's vision of a "campus without borders," characterize both the master planning process and the resulting plan. The process, which engaged civic, community, and business leaders; faculty, students, and staff; and KCMO City Planning and Development staff in hands-on workshops and open houses, marked a watershed change in campus-community relations. The resulting plan—the first to treat the entire UMKC campus and its context comprehensively—outlines bold changes rooted in the universitys vision and strategic goals.
