A major research university that continues to grow, UCSD is located on environmentally sensitive coastal lands bordered by a major freeway and established residential neighborhoods. The campus landscape plays an important role in unifying the campus, which is composed of distinct academic and residential colleges. WRT has completed many planning and design assignments for the university throughout our long-standing relationship. Major projects include the design of Warren Mall, a signature open space; neighborhood planning and landscape design for several new residential colleges; and a charter school. Our work has made positive contributions to the campus environment while minimizing environmental impacts through careful planning and a sustainable approach to landscape architecture.
