This project won a design/build competition sponsored by First Interstate Bank for a mixed-use development in South
Central Los Angeles. Located at 81st Street and Vermont Avenue, the project rejuvenates the heart of an abandoned
commercial corridor. The plan includes 36 full-size owner-occupied houses and townhouses, and is based on the
premise that affordable home ownership is the key to neighborhood revitalization. Each house has a secured private
entry, a private yard or large deck, and two secure parking spaces that are either private or joined to the garage
of one of the other houses.
