Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, McKee Botanical Garden is a restored garden on the site of one of Florida's
earliest attractions, the former McKee Jungle Gardens. WRT's master plan and subsequent design accommodate an extensive program
of visitor and support facilities on the site with minimal impact to its historic, natural, and visual resources. A cluster of
small structures rings the garden's entrance and includes a reception area, library, gift shop, cafe, and classrooms. Two unusual
buildings designed in 1941 by the garden's original co-founder, Waldo Sexton, have been restored for use as a small museum.
Throughout the site's interior, a restored network of streams and ponds features displays of water lilies and other aquatic
plants, winding its way through acres of deep oak hummock richly planted with palms, ferns, orchids, and other specimens.
