This $23 million, 43,000-square-foot visitor center and landscape at the threshold of a popular state park will shed light
on the ecology of its setting, while serving as a case study in green design. Conceived as the centerpiece of a greenway
that will both "heal" the urbanized shoreline and provide a green passage for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians, this
project includes a wide range of sustainable planning and design techniques aimed at achieving a Silver LEED rating. The
design is derived from the dynamic natural process of sand deposition, accretion, and native plant succession that shaped
Presque Isle, a National Natural Landmark.
