The Mission Bay Park Master Plan Update guides future management of San Diego's premier tourist and recreation destination. Composed of over 4,000 acres of land and water, Mission Bay serves more than a million visitors per year, including local residents, visitors from the San Diego region, and tourists. Among its features are marinas, beaches, picnic areas, resort hotel complexes, and the renowned Sea World marine park. The primary goal of the master plan update is to accommodate the projected increase in visitor use while protecting and enhancing the function of the parks ecological systems, particularly its wetlands.
