This 15-acre state park represents the city's largest open space development in more than 30 years. Located
directly adjacent to Indianapolis' central business district, the project restored an historic 800-foot bridge
spanning the White River and extended an historic canal a half mile to its ultimate conclusion in an 18-foot
waterfall at the White River. A new open-air amphitheater replaces the flood protection once provided by a
(now removed) wall. The project also includes the addition of two new pedestrian/vehicular bridges across the
canal, multi-use lawns, ornamental gardens, scenic overlooks, parking areas, a ceremonial arrival area, historic
roadway reconstruction, and incorporation of historic buildings and adjacent historic park. WRT was the landscape
architect of record for the project.
