WRT's master plan and streetscape design for Estero Island injects new vitality into a beachfront community whose economy relies greatly on tourists. Central to the plan is the design of Times Square, a new pedestrian plaza in the core retail area, which creates a critical mass for activity and people while also imparting a fresh, whimsical identity. New lighting, coconut palms, and curvilinear, colored paving in curvilinear patterns that suggest waves play up beachfront locale. The project has been declared a resounding success by the Island's community and merchant organizations.
