Track History
Located on 83 acres just outside Livermore, California (Alameda County), "Altamont Speedway" first opened its gates on July 2, 1966.
Throughout its long history, Altamont has run a wide variety of events and attracted some of the biggest names in racing history,
including notables such as Foyt, Andretti, and Unser.
In January 2006, management of the facility was acquired by Riverside Motorsports Park, LLC, the Merced County-based company
dedicated to the future of quality motorsports in California and throughout the West. Reopening for the 2006 season under the new
company name of Altamont Motorsports Park, the historic facility is a truly unique, multi-venue racing destination for many motorsports
competitors, as well as a fan-friendly, family-friendly entertainment facility for the more than 6.5 million residents living within a 90-minute
driving distance.
Altamont Motorsports Park is sanctioned by NASCAR and is proud to host the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series.
