NASCAR AND SRL TO RACE IN DUAL-SANCTIONED EVENTS AT ALTAMONT MOTORSPORTS PARK
ATWATER, Calif., February 14, 2005—Altamont Motorsports Park, a subsidiary of Riverside Motorsports Park LLC, announces
that its 2006 inaugural race schedule includes two dates on which race fans can enjoy both NASCAR and SRL racing on the
same day. On both July 2 and September 23, the Tracy, Calif., motorsports facility will feature the NASCAR AutoZone Elite
Division, Southwest Series, and the SRL Wild West Shootout Series, in separate events.
"We are extremely pleased and excited to announce this outstanding addition to our 2006 schedule,” said Kenny Shepherd,
President and General Manager of Altamont Motorsports Park. “We received the keys to the Altamont facility at the beginning of
January. Since then we have worked tirelessly, through many levels of negotiation, to develop a racing schedule that realizes our
vision of bringing quality motorsports entertainment to the strong, enthusiastic and large fan base in this area of Northern and
Central California. It is exceptionally gratifying to have both NASCAR and the SRL join with us to deliver great racing to the fans
and for the drivers."
Steve Fensler, SRL Series Director, added, "The SRL Wild West Shootout is excited about the format for the upcoming events in
2006 at Altamont Motorsports Park. Add in the fact we will be running companion shows with the NASCAR Southwest Series is
a huge bonus to all the race fans and the competitors alike."
The change in management of Altamont’s 1/4- and 1/2-mile paved oval track facility was first announced by Riverside Motorsports
Park in mid-December 2005. The raceway was renamed Altamont Motorsports Park, and it is currently undergoing significant
facility upgrades and changes that will expand its motorsports venues to include road racing, karting, drifting and figure-8 racing.
The racing season at Altamont is scheduled to start in April. The full schedule, bringing together many types of racing in a host
